How to disable download option in looker

lookml

Hi There,

Is there a way to disable the user to download the report?
Is there a way to limit the download report type?

Thanks!

Best regards,

Jason

Hi @agladboy

There are two user level permissions of download_with_limit and download_without_limit. To quote from the docs (https://docs.looker.com/admin-options/settings/roles), here’s an explanation of each:

download_with_limit
Let users download queries (as CSV, Excel, and other formats), but always require that the user specifies a row limit of 5,000 or fewer, which can help to avoid memory problems on your instance for very large downloads.

download_without_limit
The same as download_with_limit , but does not require the user to specify a row limit.

This permission has an associated legacy feature.

There doesn’t appear to be a way to restrict to certain kinds of export formats.

Hope that helps,
Ben

Thanks for the answer from @Ben

Hi Jason,

I will create a feature request for you regarding limiting the download report type. Could you share more about this use case?

Best,
Xin

Hi Xin,

Thank you and we are integrating the looker into our product and the user is embeded user and when the user is trying to download by html, the error message ‘You are not authorized to view this page.’ is displayed when user clicks on the value from the HTML report.

This is the reason we want to disable the html download.
And it looks like there is no way to disable the link of the measure in the html report so the user will not be able to click the hyperlink.

Thanks again!

Best regards,

Jason
