Dimension for Table Calculation Subtotals

I am trying to create a bar chart. I have two dimensions, one is a parent (this is the dimension I’d like in the visualization), and a child (this is how the calculations are made in the table). The subtotals at the parent dimension are incorrect so I used this work around to create my own subtotals https://help.looker.com/hc/en-us/articles/360023635234 . Now I am trying to show the row that has the subtotal value, but at the parent level. If I hide the child dimension, Looker automatically takes the total of the calculation column. If I show the child item in the visualization and hide the parent, I get the correct information for the calculated column, but then it looks like that is the total for the child item. Is there a custom dimension I can create to work around this issue?

Hi Taylor,

I think it would help if you could post some screenshots of what you are after and what issues you encountered.
