In a world before Looker we would use our legacy tool to explore order detail records, showing the individual items contained within an order. We’d then “roll up” these records to the order header level, so we could see all the orders which contained a particular item, then roll this again to a customer level, showing all customers who purchased this item.
We’d then roll back down, to see what other items these users purchased. I can replicate this today in our database, but I’d like to enable our Looker users to perform this kind of analysis - how might I go about this?
The workflow I have in mind is:
Create a customer segment > Store segment . use segment in a Looker filter
This segment could be large, in the hundreds of thousands of users, so too large for ad-hoc filtering in Looker.
